Hall Rentals

Hazeldean offers a main hall, large kitchen facilities and a separate bar on the main floor for rent. On the second level, there is a small meeting room available. Our main floor is wheelchair accessible and a large parking lot next to the hall for our renter's use. We offer our renters single and multi-use contracts.

Exterior of Hall - Ammenities

  • Playground and spray deck is adjacent to the Hall
  • A soccer field and 2 baseball diamonds
    • The City maintains the playground/spray deck, soccer field and two ball diamonds.  If your event includes usage of parkland, a permit is required from the City - please allow ample time for permit processing when booking the Hall
  • Ample free parking

 

Main Hall - Ammenities

  • Capacity:  285 (for accommodation of a dance floor and comfort, we recommend renters to have a maximum of 250 people)
  • Main hall dimensions:  64.5 x 48.5 feet
    • Floor to ceiling height is 14 feet 8 inches
  • Raised corner stage is 16 x 15 feet
    • Stage to ceiling height is 10 feet 12 inches
    • We do not provide DJ service
  • Separate bar has sliding 2 door bar fridge, 7 cubic feet chest freezer, stainless steel sink and counter
    • Renters are required to have 3rd party liability certificate (also known as the Host Liquor Liability Insurance) indentifying that Hazeldean Community League is "additionally insured" on the certificate prior to approval of rental.  This certificate can be obtained through PAL Insurance Brokers Ltd at 1-800-661-1608 or www.palcanada.com.  Please allow at least one week for processing.  A copy of the finalized certificate must be submitted to the Hall prior to key pick up.
    • Renters are also required to provide proof of a liquor permit prior to approval of rental (liquor permits are available for purchase at most retail liquor stores)
    • We do not provide bartending service
  • SOCAN (Society of Composers, Authors, and Music Pubishers of Canada) permit/license.  From their website:
    • SOCAN is an organization that administers the communication and performing rights of virtually the world's entire repertoire of copyright-protected music, when it is used in Canada. We collect licence fees, then distribute the fees as royalties to our members and affiliated performing rights organizations (PROs) worldwide. We ensure that music creators and publishers get paid for the communication and public performance of their music in Canada. To do this, we collect fees from individuals, businesses and organizations that play music in public, broadcast it, or communicate it by telecommunication. We do what's right for music.
    • In order to use music as part of your business, you usually need a performing rights licence. SOCAN will grant such a licence, allowing you access to virtually the world's entire repertoire of copyright-protected music for communication and public performance, at rates approved by the Copyright Board of Canada. A SOCAN performing rights licence ensures that the music and the rights of those who create and publish it are respected.

    • The Hazeldean Community League requires the rentor to provide a copy of the permit/license in order to complete the rental agreement process.

  • Large kitchen equipped with a upright fridge (without freezer), stove, microwave, stainless steel counter & 2 double sinks back to back, three 100-cup coffee urns, 3-shelf trolley
    • We do not supply cutlery, dishes or table linen
    • Additionally, we do not provide catering service
  • Stored under the stage, there are 34 tables (8' x 2 1/2') and 250 gray folding chairs
  • Lighting:  fluorescent, incandescent on dimmer switch with spot lighting along the sides and a separate stage light
  • Variable speed ceiling fans, air conditioning
  • Main floor is wheelchair accessible
  • There is 32 feet of mirror on one wall
  • Cloak room is adjacent to the main entrance
  • Fire alarm and four fire extinguishers (bar, kitchen (2), upstairs meeting room)

 

Upstairs Meeting Room - Ammenities

  • Capacity:  48
  • Upstairs meeting room dimensions:  35.5 x 13.5 feet
  • Furnished with conference tables and upholstered chairs

 

Other Information

  • Stored under the stage, there is a 12-foot ladder for our renter's use
  • We have 5 small, square tables available upon request (useful for registration book, cake, stage)
  • We have a counter on wheels with two shelves that can be provided as a ticket booth
  • There is a phone in the kitchen which is capable of making local calls but cannot receive calls
  • In winter, we provide shovels and salt (renter's must shovel the snow)
  • For the warmer weather, we provide rake for cleaning up garbage left behind from rental outside
  • For our renter's convenience, we stock toilet paper, paper towel, and liquid hand soap
  • In the furnace room we have available brooms, dust pan, wet mops, mop buckets, bucket sink, hand truck for unloading/loading, garbage bags, and floor cleaner
  • There are 7 garbage containers throughout the building and the garbage bin outside is locked for security

 

Rental Rate Information

  • Friday or Saturday Night
    • $550 + GST
    • Friday night rental access is from noon on Friday to noon on Saturday
    • Saturday night rental access is from noon on Saturday to noon on Sunday
    • $1,000 Security Deposit is required for either a Friday or Saturday night rental
  • Wedding Weekend
    • $650 + GST
    • Friday from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm on Sunday
    • This allows for rehearsals, decoration, food preparation, gift opening
    • Confetti (either decorative or thrown) is strictly prohibitted from use in and around the Hall
    • $1,000 Security Deposit is required for all Wedding Weekend rental
  • All Main Hall rentals include the use of the kitchen, bar and accessories listed above
  • Hourly rentals
    • Minimum rental hours:  6
    • $250 + GST for the first 6 hours
    • $26 for each additional hour thereafter
    • $500 Security Deposit is required
  • New Year's Eve
    • $750 + GST
    • $1,000 Security Deposit is required
  • Additional costs
    • Upstairs meeting room is $50 + GST with main hall booking
    • North Hall meeting room is $50 + GST with main hall booking
  • Advertising on the front sign outside the Hall
    • One side is $10 + GST
    • Both sides is $20 + GST
  • GST is to be added to all rental fees

Contract Information

  • Most of our Hall contracts are for single use purposes only.  For multi-use rentals, please contact the hall for a quote and further information

Terms & Conditions

Cleaning of the Hall is the responsibility of the renter.  "Leave the premises in the same state as it was found"

  • During your rental, cleaning of washrooms, floors, counters, etc. is the responsibility of the renter
    • Brooms, wet mops, mop buckets, floor cleaner, toilet plungers (found in each washroom) and garbages bags are supplied by the Hall for the renter's convenience
    • Renters must provide their own cleaning detergent (other than the floor cleaner), rags, and pails
  • By the contract end time, the renter is required to remove all belongings, have all garbage in outside waste bin, ensure tables and chairs are cleaned and stacked neatly and properly, ensure floor is wet mopped and thoroughly cleaned (good enough to walk on barefoot), and ensure general clean up of kitchen, bar, and bathrooms
  • Candles must be inside a non-combustible container that is at least as tall as the candle
  • Hall decorations are acceptable under the condition that only non-residue painter's tape is used.  Use of staples, tacks, nails, scotch tape, masking tape or duck tape is strictly prohibited
  • Edmonton's smoking bylaw prohibits smoking in the building
  • With 3 weeks notice or more from the renter, the booking is confirmed when:
    • Security deposit cheque is received, deposited and cleared
    • A signed contract from the renter is received by the Hall
    • The rental cheque (post-dated for 3 weeks prior to booked date) is received by the Hall
  • With less than 3 weeks notice, the booking is confirmed when:
    • Certified cheque or money order for the security deposit and the rental fee is received, deposited and cleared by the Hall
    • A signed contract from the renter is received by the Hall
