OK, fellow Hazelnuts! Our endearing neighbour to the north, Ritchie Community League, is at it again, and is challenging all Edmonton neighbourhoods to "June Bike Month" from June 1-30, 2022. As the reigning "Move for Mental Health" Challenge Champions, we've got a few goals ahead of us:

#1 - Spank Ritchie at June Bike Month!
#2 - Get active, for our own mental and physical well-being.
#3 - Contribute to the overall goal of 250,000km travelled.
#4 - Spank Ritchie at June Bike Month!

You can help accumulate kilometers for Hazeldean's "Green Belt Bike Gang" through both indoor and outdoor cycling. Here’s three AWESOME ways to participate in the challenge!

OPTION #1:
Join the "Hazelnuts Green Belt Bike Gang!" STRAVA group, and sync your favourite fitness tracking device to automatically upload your data: https://www.strava.com/clubs/801266

OPTION #2:
Manually submit your cycling stats into this Google Form: https://forms.gle/XXmpVjkjtRhg2Hg96
Don't forget your multipliers, if you are manually logging an activity that only one person was tracking on a device. For example, if there were 5 people in your family, that 3km bike ride is really worth 15km!

OPTION #3:
Email your weekly totals to secretary@hazeldean.org by 11:59:59pm each Sunday evening.
Let's rack up those km’s, Hazeldean!

General Open House grades K - 6

The Hazeldean Elementary Program has 140 students from kindergarten through grade six.  We are currently planning one class for each grade from Kindergarten to grade six. Special needs children are integrated into these classrooms.
The Pre-Kindergarten Program provides multidisciplinary support to pre-school children with complex learning needs and developmental delays.  It is directly funded through Alberta Education Program Unit Funding.

There are currently 110 children between 3 and 5 ½ years of age enrolled in our program who have moderate to severe delays including:  speech and language; gross and fine motor; cognitive; behavioural/emotional; and social skills development.  This includes but is not limited to children diagnosed with autism, cerebral palsey, down syndrome, and emotional behavior disorders.  Service to children is provided by a multidisciplinary team consisting of teachers, educational assistants, speech and language pathologists, speech and language assistants, occupational therapists, physical therapists, occupational and physical therapist assistants, family resource coordinators, and administrators.  The majority of programming occurs within the daily classroom routine.‌
